Essay Competiton
Periodic essay competitions will be announced where student members can have the opportunity to submit their essays. Winners will be announced and appropriately acknowledged and rewarded.
Essay Topic
Most, if not all heads of states of African countries had promised to fight corruption during their campaigns and in office. Unfortunately, this determination to fight corruption appears to be a losing battle. Assuming you are privileged to be elected into office as the president of one of these African countries: (i) Identify five major contributing factors to corruption in your country. (ii) How would you handle each of the problems itemized above that you are sure would work this time?
Length and Style of Essay
• The length of the essay must not exceed five pages. The five pages does not include the cover page, reference page or any graph/image that may be attached.
• Use Microsoft Word to type your essay. The font must be size 12, using Times New Roman, and double spaced.
• Page one must have the essay topic at the top.
• Your name (first and last) should appear on every page as a running header.
• The layout must have margins of one inch on all four sides of each page.
• Provide an alphabetical listing of all materials you cited in your text on a separate reference page immediately after the essay pages. Use the ASA Style Citations (American Sociological Society). For example:
• In the text use: (Malgwi, 2015)
• In the reference use full citation as follows:
Malgwi, C. A., & Morgan Jr, I. W. (2017). Do Significant Stock Price Drops Signal Red Flag for Financial Statement Fraud? Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting, 9(2), pp. 719-813.
• Provide (if any), graph/image on the last page(s).

Submission Instructions
To submit your completed essay, please email the essay in word document format to essays@fraudprevention.africa. The file name must contain your full name, country and school name.
Case competitions
Student chapter members select a team to represent their school in a case competition. Winners will progress up to the AFCP Summit Final. Overall winners will be announced and appropriately acknowledged and rewarded. Case competitions will be announced… Stay tuned!!
